What is White Oil

White oil is a mineral oil produced by refining, and it differs from the food grade vegetable oils that are often utilized in other circumstances. Vegetable oils often have odor, are unstable and can go rancid. White oil is a mixture of isoparaffins and naphthenics from petroleum sources. You may also see white oil referred to as paraffin since this is the majority component. When crude oil is refined to make fuels, a small part is further refined to mineral oil. If severely refined and hydrotreated, this mineral oil will be purified to white oil.

Precautions for Handling and Storage

  • Oil products should be stored independently and no flammable products should be placed around them.
  • Fireworks are strictly prohibited, and fire is not allowed into the oil depot.
  • Flammable special oils or chemical solvents should be stored separately and placed with flammable signs.
  • Do not place it upright in the open air to prevent contamination from moisture and debris.
  • Indoor storage can be placed upright with the barrel facing upward for easy extraction.
  • Tighten the sealing cap to keep the oil drum sealed.
  • New oil and waste oil should be placed separately. Containers that have been filled with waste oil should not be filled with new oil to prevent contamination.

When crude oil is refined to make fuels, a small part is further refined to mineral oil. If severely refined and hydrotreated, this mineral oil will be purified to white oil. This processing and refining make USP white mineral oil.

Q: What is an example of a white oil?

A: A few other names include paraffinum perliquidum, paraffin oil, liquid paraffin, and liquid petroleum. White oil is a colorless and odorless mixture of higher alkanes from a mineral source. This mineral source is usually from a distillate of petroleum. White Oil is mainly used towards consumer products and commodities that interacts with humans. The areas the oil can be used in range from cosmetics to pharmaceuticals to food productions.

Q: What is considered white oil?

A: White mineral oil is a tasteless, odorless, and colorless liquid that's used in a wide array of applications. White mineral oils have different chemical makeups and are generally complex in structures, but typically include mixtures of paraffinic, napththenic, and acrylic saturated hydrocarbons.

Q: Is white oil the same as petroleum oil?

A: Petroleum oils are highly refined, paraffinic oils that are used to manage pests and diseases of plants. Petroleum oils may be referred to by many names, including horticultural oil, spray oil or white mineral oil. Oils are most effective against soft-bodied insects and mites. They are commonly used against mites, aphids, whiteflies, thrips and mealybugs.

Q: Can I make my own white oil?

A: White oil is one of the most effective organic pesticides and it's easy and cheap to make your own using household ingredients. To make it use two cups of sunflower oil. One cup of detergent dishwashing detergent. This is concentrated white oil.

Q: What is another name for white oil?

A: Other Names: Mineral Oil, Paraffinum Perliquidum, Paraffin Oil, Liquid Paraffin, and Liquid Petroleum. White oil is a colorless and odorless mixture of higher alkanes from a mineral source. This mineral source is usually from a distillate of petroleum. White oil is also used as a food grade lubricant and used in the medical industry and food industry – for pan release, equipment protection and lubrication.

Q: Is white oil safe for humans?

A: White oils and waxes are chemically very inert substances. What is thus used for instance, in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical or food contact, are highly refined specialty products derived from petroleum. The use of these highly refined products has a very long history and enjoys an impeccable human safety record.

Q: Is white oil good for?

A: White oil is effective against sucking and chewing pests including aphids, mealybugs, scale, spider mites, whiteflies and fruit moths. It is most effective on soft-bodied pests and is best applied when the pests are at an early stage in their development and populations are small.

Q: How are white oils produced?

A: The production of these highly refined white oils is usually carried out from mineral oil distillates without or with solvent extraction, for example with furfural, followed by refining with considerable quantities of oleum, neutralisation and treatment with fullers earth. This process possesses various disadvantages.

Q: Is white oil a light oil?

A: White Oils are biologically stable product with no tolerance level for pathogenic bacteria support. It is completely free from aromatic hydrocarbons and having high lubrication and insulation properties. It is also known as Light Liquid Paraffin Oil, LLP Oil, Mineral Oil and Light Mineral Oil.

Q: How long does white oil last?

A: You can store the white oil concentrate for about three months in a sealed container or jar. Once diluted, you can use a spray bottle for easy application. Apply to affected plants liberally, especially on the backside of plant leaves as this is where many pests tend to hide or lay eggs.

Q: When not to use white oil?

A: As with ready-to-use spray bottles or cans, the mixture is applied to all surfaces of a plant's leaves and stems. All sources note that white oil should not be applied when temperatures above 25–30°C are expected, as this may cause the plant to "burn".

Q: Is white oil same as paraffin oil?

A: Liquid paraffin (white oil) is quite different product comparing paraffin wax which is a solid white and hard product, white oil has different usage for manufacture of pharmaceuticals and personal care products such as ointments, lotions cosmetic, hair oils, baby oils, moisturizers, laxatives, and creams.

Q: Is white oil good for your skin?

A: White mineral oil acts as an excellent emollient, which helps to lock in moisture and keep the skin hydrated. It forms a protective barrier on the skin's surface, preventing water loss and maintaining the skin's natural moisture balance.

Q: Is white oil Natural?

A: White Mineral Oil, also known as White Mineral Carrier Oil, is a light, clear, highly purified oil that is derived from Petroleum and is commonly used in a wide range of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. Once the oil has been purified to become mineral oil, it bears no resemblance to the original petroleum, and is not a source of contaminants as often believed.

Q: Can you use white oil on tomatoes?

A: This product is safe to use on all edible plants. Wash all edible plants before eating. This product is a blend of naturally occurring ingredients and may have dust at times due to handling beyond the manufacturer's control. It is recommended to wear a mask during application. Wash hands after use.

Q: Does white oil work on ants?

A: White oil is effective in the control of sucking and chewing insects such as aphids, scale insects, mealybug, mites, citrus leaf miner, whitefly and some caterpillars. It also kills ants instantly which is helpful if you have a large infestation.

Q: Is white oil food safe?

A: WHITE OIL is a highly refined, light mineral oil product that meets the US Food Codex specifications and complies with US FDA regulations for indirect food additives (21CRF178. 3620).

Q: Is white oil synthetic?

A: Unfortunately, there is no reliable way of differentiating between mineral and synthetic in the field. However, because synthetic base oils are white (meaning transparent) as compared to mineral oils, which have a darker natural color (due to aromatics, sulfur and other impurities), this may be a distinguishing factor.

Q: What are the properties of white oil?

A: White Oil is manufactured with hydroprocessed base oils of the highest purity. It contains Vitamin E as a natural oxidation inhibitor and remains colorless, odorless, and tasteless during normal storage and service life. It is non-toxic and has outstanding storage stability.
