Acrylic acid is an organic compound with a chemical formula of C3H4O2. It is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor, miscible with water, and soluble in ethanol and ether. Active chemical properties, easy to polymerize in the air, can be reduced to propionic acid by hydrogenation, and added with hydrogen chloride to generate 2-chloropropionic acid, mainly used for the preparation of acrylic resins.
